“The Théâtre Le Palace resonates with the vision of the House as it is a venue that gave life to a (sub)culture that has inspired young generations up until today.”

Known for his theatrical background and extravagant shows, Alessandro Michele took a literal approach this season and presented the Gucci SS19 show in a Parisian theatre.
The Théâtre Le Palace, which used to mascarade as a nightclub, opened the show with a trippy short length feature film of two, seemingly possessed models, in an old baroque house. To add to the theatrics, Jane Birkin began to sing, “Baby Alone in Babylone”, half way through the show from her seat in the audience.
Dolly Parton and Micky Mouse were some of the iconic characters that made an appearance on denim jackets and handbags. Almost everything was feathered or fringed, with the added appearance of a white cockatoo appearing on one of the models shoulders- fitting following Gucci’s recently released campaign video featuring Noah’s Ark, and his flock of animals.
The iconic Dapper Dan Gucci print didn’t go missed, plastered across bags, tank tops and even underwear. Models walked down the aisles of the theatre before remaining on stage for the remainder of the show, showing the collection as a whole.
Guests included avid supporters such as Petra Collins, Jared Leto, and new faces like Jorja Smith.
