A TRIBUTE BEFIT OF THE SNEAKER LEGEND
Crafted by Simone Smyth, Reebok have created a bespoke Reebok Ripple OG sneaker to pay tribute to the passing of Gary Warnett. Well known in the sneaker industry as a trainer enthusiast, journalist and one of the most trusted names in our culture.
Working behind-the- scenes with a number of top sportswear brands, the Reebok Gwarizm is just one of the tributes released by brands this year, with both Supreme and Nike releasing special merchandise.
Designed by Gary’s close friends Simone Smyth, Sneakersnstuff buyer Mubi Ali, and shot by Magdi Fernandes, the campaign shows Gary’s nephew, Sam, and Gary’s Dog, Molly, playfully in the garden. Gary’s own 2013 Reebok Classic CL leather trainer was chosen by his friends as the inspiration of the special edition sneaker.
Subtle detailing on the trainer acknowledges evert element of Warnett’s live, from ‘BEFORD’ printed on the insole, which was Gary’s hometown, to the style itself ‘Gwarizm’- the name of his influential personal blog. The tongue features Warnett’s ‘Gwarizm’ logo that was designed by his close friend, Charlie Morgan, whilst Gary’s ties to the UK, and love for its house and garage music scene, are shown through the styles silhoutte- Reebok Workout Ripple.
The Reebok Gwarizm marks the one year anniversary of Gary Warnett’s tragic death. The Reebok trainer won’t be available to purchase, but will be gifted to Gary’s close family and friends.
